Kot Ghulam Muhammad

Kot Ghulam Muhammad (Jemsabad) is situated in south-east Mirpur Khas District of Southern Province Sindh of Pakistan, Kot Ghlam Muhammad town is situated west of Samaro, north of Digri, and about 45 km south of Mirpur Khas. The majority of the population relies on agriculture. Mangoes from this area are famous all over Pakistan. However, the migration of educated and wealthy class from this town to cities is a serious cause of concern.

Communities

Muslims: (Arain, Kaimkhani, Babbar Baloch, Rao Rajputs, Halepota, Talpur, Chandio, Kapri, Gorchani, Dal, Khaskheli, Laghari, Jat, Kumbher, Khosa, Baloch, Makrani, Bhurgari, Noondani baloch and Other Sindhi tribes). Most of people belonging to Talpur, Bhurgari, Arain, Jat, Khaskheli, Kachelo, Halepota, Talpur and Dal clans are associated with agriculture field. While the most of Kaimkhani, Kumbher, Kalal, Rajput, Laghari people are engaged in government services, business and industrial field jobs.

Non-Muslims: (Kolhi, Mehshwari, Meghwal, Kalal, Bheel, Christian and other non-Muslim clan are the inhabitants of Kot Ghulam Muhammad). Kolhi clan of Hindu community is mainly associated with farming. Meghwal community of Kot Ghulam Muhammad were previously associated to farming, mason work, dispensary, and tailoring, but nowadays they are receiving high-class education and serving in good positions.

Major crops of Kot Ghulam Mohammad

There are many crops grown in Kot Ghulam Mohammad, including fiber crops, sugar crops, cereal crops, oil crops, vegetables, and fruits. Cotton is major cash crop of Kot Ghulam Mohammad, cultivated in thousands of acres best growing areas are DEH 333, Kachlo Farm, and DEH 321. Cotton yield in per acre is 60 monds. Cereal is also major food crop of Kot Ghulam Mohammad, per acre yield is 45 monds. Different vegetables are cultivated in Kot Ghulam Mohammad such as okra, cluster beans, carrot, tomato, onion, potato, peas, and sugar beet. Also grown are mango and date palms. Sugar is also cultivated in this area.

AIR LPG gas plant

An LPG-air mix gas plant, with a capacity of 100 MMBTU/hr is located in Kot Ghulam Mohammad that ensures supply of gas to remote regions where gas through conventional means cannot be reached. The plant was commissioned in August 2010.
